Waiting To Watch Matrix Resurrections Online? Here's The OTT Release Date

Matrix Resurrections OTT release date was announced on April 21, 2022. The movie is the fourth instalment of the popular Matrix franchise and had a theatre release on December 22, 2021.

Matrix Resurrections is a science fiction film based on the life of a game developer who cannot differentiate between fantasy and reality. He gets into a new and even more dangerous Matrix when he accepts an offer from Morpheus. The movie was made with a budget of US $190 million but could not gross any profits at the box office on its release in December 2021 as the movie grossed a worldwide collection of US $156 million only. Despite including stars like Keanu Reeves, Priyanka Chopra and Jada Pinkett Smith, the movie did not perform as per the expectations of the makers.

Matrix Resurrection OTT Release Date

The timeline of the story of Matrix Resurrections is 60 years after the Matrix Revolutions movie. The story follows the life of Neo aka Thomas Anderson played by Keanu Reeves who is a game developer. He is so stuck in his virtual reality that he has created that he find it difficult to separate his dreams and reality. He developed the game called The Matrix and a character called Trinity played by Carrie-Anne Moss based on Tiffany, a woman he keeps running into. He and Trinity gets stuck in a pod and Neo joins hands with a group of rebels and programmed version of Morpheus to save her.

The movie features Priyanka Chopra as Sati, an exile program that was born from the union of two other programs called Kamala and Rama-Kandra. Her character appeared for the first time in the Matrix franchise in the 2003 film Matrix Reloaded. Sati was created without a purpose and hence, is considered unnecessary by The Architect. However, she is helped by the Merovingian to save herself from getting deleted. Her character acts as a premise to the coming films of the franchise and is sure to be seen again.

Matrix Resurrections will be available to stream on OTT from May 12, 2022. The news of the OTT release of the movie was shared by Amazon Prime Video on April 21, 2022 through its official Twitter account. The tweet had the film's poster along with the caption that read, "choose your pill #TheMatrixResurrectionOnPrime, May 12 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada".
