Mahesh Babu's Father Actor Krishna Passes Away At 80, Tributes Pour In

Veteran Telugu actor Krishna died on Tuesday at a Hyderabad hospital where he was undergoing treatment following a cardiac arrest. He was 80.

Krishna, the father of superstar Mahesh Babu, was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Monday and was put on a ventilator. The hospital issued a statement revealing that the late superstar suffered from multiple organ failure. The actor passed away at 4 am on Tuesday, hospital sources said.

Krishna had acted in 350 films and was also a successful director and producer. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2009.

His wife and Mahesh Babu's mother Indira Devi died in September this year. His elder son Ramesh Babu died in January. Actress Vijaya Nirmala, who was his second wife, died in 2019.

Tributes Pour In For Actor Krishna

Soon after the news of his death, fans of Krishna and people from the film industry expressed their grief and paid tributes.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao were among the political leaders who paid tribute to Krishna.

“This is Heart Breaking. Our superstar Krishna garu is no more. Legend and inspiration for generations. We will all miss you, sir. Praying for strength to the family,” actor Nikhil Siddhartha tweeted.

Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni tweeted his condolences to Mahesh Babu and his family as he remembered the late "fearless actor". Nagarjuna tweeted, "A Fearless man who attempted every genre!! The original cowboy of Telugu films!! I could sit with him for hours which were filled with his positivity, the man the legend the superstar!!#RIPSuperStarKrishnaGaru we will miss you."

Actor Rakul Preet Singh tweeted her condolences on the passing away of Telugu superstar and thanked him for his contribution to Indian cinema

Telugu actor Nani tweeted, "End of an era. My deepest condolences to @urstrulyMahesh sir, family and Krishna Gaaru’s extended family which includes you, me and every Telugu cinema fan."
