When Is Dhanush And Malavika Mohanan Starrer Maaran Come Out?

The Tamil-language movie fans don't have to wait much longer as Dhanush and Malavika Mohanan starrer's release is just around the corner.

Dhanush's next film, Maaran, will be released in March 2022 on OTT. The action-thriller is Dhanush's much-anticipated film and the fourth consecutive film of the South star to release on OTT after the pandemic. The movie stars Malavika Mohanan, who featured in South hits Petta and Master, as the female lead. The movie will feature Dhanush as an investigative journalist starring alongside Malavika Mohanan, Smruthi Venkat, Master Mahendran and Samuthrakani. Here's is when the movie will hit the screens.

Dhanush And Malavika Starrer Maaran Release Date

Maaran is a Tamil political thriller that is about an investigative journalist (Dhanush) who gets in trouble after publishing an article about a politician (Samuthirakini), revealing his corrupt ways and bitter truths. The film is produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, directed by Karthick Naren and the music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film will be releasing on March 11, 2022 directly on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar.

Although the fans were expecting a theatre release for the Dhanush starrer considering the fact that the cinema halls are reopened with 50% capacity and are doing well, the makers went for an OTT release, reportedly to play safe and grabbing an undoubted profitable opening. The makers came up with innovative ideas for the promotion of the film by launching a Maaran emoji on Twitter that looks just like Dhanush's character from the movie. As for the physical promotions, photo booths made of movie cut outs and Maaran based bioscopes were set up in Chennai mall to attract the attention of the audience.

The movie also had a unique trailer release which made it the first ever Tamil film to use "Twitter Unlock" feature that gives users the access to exclusive content like trailers and teasers if they have reacted to the call-to-action by the film or brand on Twitter. Hence, the trailer was exclusively released for Maaran fans on Twitter. After Maaran, Dhanush has a Hollywood film that will be directed by Russo Brothers that is titled The Gray Man. He will also feature in a Tamil-Telugu bilingual.
