Freaky Friday: ‘Freaky Friday’ Sequel Brings a Shocking Twist
The original Freaky Friday, based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel, followed a mother and daughter who magically switched bodies after eating a mystical Chinese fortune cookie. The switch forced them to experience each other’s lives and understand each other better.
Now, 22 years later, the adventure continues, Anna is now a mother herself, with a daughter named Harper (Julia Butters) and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons). But this time, it’s not just a two-way swap, it’s a four-way body swap that takes things to a whole new level of craziness.
Fans of the original will be excited to see many familiar faces returning. Apart from Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, the sequel also brings back actors like Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, and Lucille Soong.
On March 14, 2024, Disney dropped the first teaser trailer for Freakier Friday, giving fans a glimpse of what’s coming. The trailer opens with a fortune teller, reminding Tess and Anna that they have swapped bodies before and that they’ll need to remember the lesson they learnt.
