On Saturday, James took to Instagram to share her surprising look for the upcoming comedic series. The pictures showcased her transformation into Anderson. The Hulu series, starring James and Sebastian Stan as leads, is based on the true story behind the release of the first-ever viral video in history — the sex tape of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.

James posted a photo on Instagram, with a quote from Pamela Anderson that reads: “It’s great to be blonde. With low expectations, it’s very easy to surprise people.”

About the series, the streaming service said it's based on "the true scandal that started it all": Anderson and Lee's sex tape. "Here’s a peek at Pam & Tommy," Hulu teased on Instagram and Twitter.

Anderson and Lee‘s sex tape had created a storm back in the day. It is even touted as the first 'viral' video when it comes to celebrity scandals. In one of the pictures, Stan is seen naked with tattoos covering his arms and the infamous "Mayhem" stomach tattoo while James literally biting his pierced nipple.

She can also be seen flaunting Anderson's notorious barbed-wire arm tattoo. The series will be a comedic take of the former couple’s leaked sex tape. Their transformation into the '90s tabloid couple is the most talked-about topic at the moment as the actors look very similar to the real-life duo.

After the absolutely uncanny photos were released today, Seth Rogen also shared, "My co-stars, Sebastian and Lily, are a lot cooler than I am." Rogen, playing the guy who stole the tape,  executive produces the series alongside his Point Grey partner Evan Goldberg. I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie is at the helm of the series.

The Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan is playing Tommy Lee but check out how unrecognisable James looks:

Picked up in December, the eight-episode series tracks the relationship between the Baywatch actor Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Lee, who married less than a week after they met in 1995.

A tape they made having sex during their honeymoon was stolen from their home and leaked online. The '90s icons sued the distributor, Internet Entertainment Group, and eventually reached a settlement under which the tape became public again. They got divorced in 1998 following Anderson claiming "the rock-star thing became very destructive."

The rockstar couple’s relationship dominated the tabloids for years and how Lily James handles the portrayal of Anderson remains to be seen. Deadline previously reported that the story will also focus on the duo's relationship going back to the whirlwind romance that started with them marrying after only knowing each other for 96 hours in 1995.

Later, Anderson had said in an interview in 2015 that she had never watched the video and made not one dollar. She claimed it was stolen property and they made a deal to stop all the "shenanigans".

"I was seven months pregnant with Dylan and thinking it was affecting the pregnancy with the stress and said, 'I'm not going to court anymore. I'm not being deposed anymore by these horny, weird lawyer men. I don't want to talk about my vagina anymore or my public sex — anything," Anderson had said on Watch What Happens Live in 2015.

The couple share sons Brandon, 24, and Dylan, 23. "I don't know if they've seen (the sex tape), but they know about it," Anderson had told Elle in 2014. "They know about everything. Stupid Internet. I don't know why everyone is so impressed with it."

The cast also includes Nick Offerman as porn impresario Uncle Miltie, Taylor Schilling as Rand’s wife, Andrew Dice Clay as a mob guy, Pepi Sonuga as Pam’s best friend, Spencer Granese as Steve Fasanella, and Mozhan Marnò as Gail, a powerhouse publicist, among others.

32-year-old Lily James is known for her work in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Pam & Tommy does not have a premiere date yet. Anderson and Lee are not involved in the series.
