Forrest Gump's official Hindi remake, Laal Singh Chaddha, which features Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor as its leading actors, follows the journey of the lead character(Aamir Khan) as he experiences key episodes in Indian history.
Advait Chandan will be directing the upcoming comedy-drama Laal Singh Chaddha, initially penned by Eric Roth and adapted by Atul Kulkarni. Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios are behind the movie. Laal Singh Chaddha is reportedly soon going to have an OTT release. Fans are excited and thrilled for the same. Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor play key roles in the film. The movie, directed by Advait Chandan, is an official translation into Hindi of Tom Hanks' 1994 Oscar-winning movie Forrest Gump. Khan portrays Laal Singh Chaddha, a Sikh guy modelled after Tom Hanks' well-known Forrest Gump role.
The nearly three-minute-long teaser gives us a glimpse of Laal Singh Chadha, played by Aamir, who is a straightforward, modest man who was nurtured on a farm by his devoted mother (Mona Singh). The trailer shows how Laal was forced to wear leg braces as a child due to a condition he had. He managed to escape as his friend shouted, "Bhaag Laal bhaag!". Laal grows up to become a seasoned runner before enlisting in the Indian Army.
The Laal Singh Chaddha ">teaser also includes lengthy flashback scenes in which a young Laal is encouraged to live life on his own terms by his mother, portrayed by Mona Singh. This is just one of many parallels between the Hindi version and the original, which was adapted from a Winston Groom novel.
"Forrest Gump is an iconic film. I am very curious to see how Tom Hanks' reacts after watching the film. He is a wonderful actor," said Aamir Khan while discussing the making of the film. He also claimed that he worked on it for about 15 years, first getting the rights and then putting it together during the pandemic.
The movie, which had been delayed multiple times because of the coronavirus outbreak, is currently scheduled to open in theatres around the world on August 11, 2022. About its release on OTT, there are reports stating that it might priemere on OTT platforms after 6 months of its theatrical release. However, there are no official dates for the OTT release yet.
