Indie pop singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away on Tuesday, May 31 in Kolkata. His sudden demise came as a shock and condolences have been pouring in for the deceased singer who is suspected to have died because of a cardiac arrest.

The singer is survived by his wife Jyothy and two children, Nakul Krishna Kunnath and a daughter Taamara Krishna Kunnath. His family reached Kolkata on June 1 and will take his body to Mumbai after the autopsy.

As everyone mourns his demise, here's a look back at his love story.

KK And Jyothy’s Love Story

The singer met his wife when they were both adolescents. Reportedly, he met his wife Jyothy when he was in class six. The late singer had revealed in an episode of the comedy chat show The Kapil Sharma Show that he had to take up a sales job to get married to her since he was unemployed.

He reportedly worked for three months at the firm before he pursued his dream of becoming a singer. He also revealed on the show that he had only courted one woman, his wife who is an artist. The couple tied the knot in 1991 and he got his first big break in music in 1994.

The singer had also spoken about how his wife helped him overpower a tough phase in life and added that she has been a pivotal part of his career as well. The singer who was first based in Delhi and later shifted his base to Mumbai in 1994.

Narrating the story of his decision to move, KK said in a 2013 interview, "It was a very stagnant existence that I was leading. I was doing jingles, producing jingles, advertising, and all that. But there was only that much I could do. I was getting to a dead end. I had got married just three years ago and my wife Jyoti became the reason for me to move to Bombay."

In another video for a music label, he said, "She made me take the decision which on my own I would not have taken. She helped me get out of a certain state of mind, she continues to do that even now. It worked well for me that I got married before I settled down and she helped me in settling down."
