In the drama, Moon portrays a detective who learns that everything she thought she knew about her dedicated husband's background was a lie and is forced to question if she still loves him. When he is identified as a suspect in a murder, things get much more difficult.

On August 17, the drama's production company, Studio Dragon, officially announced that the Indian version would premiere on August 19 under the name Duranga which translates to "the two shadows of lies."

The remake rights for the drama were sold to Indian video streaming platform ZEE5, and the remake, Duranga, was developed by Mumbai-based production company Rose Audio Visuals Pvt. Ltd. The nine-part series, starring Gulshan Devaiah and Drashti Dhami, was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan.

Goldie Behl, the producer of Rose Audio Visuals Pvt. Ltd said, "We were certain from the beginning that this particular show would fit well with the Indian sensibilities because the Korean culture is a lot like Indian."

There will be nine episodes in the new remake, broadcast on one of India's biggest platforms, ZEE5. “The inherent similarity between the two countries of both having vibrant Asian cultures is enough for Korean content to have a vast fan base in India. We are glad to be the first among India’s OTT industry to take on remaking Korean content, which was possible thanks to the worldwide popularity of ‘Flower of Evil,'” the platform’s representatives stated.

Additionally, ZEE5, the Indian streaming platform released a ">trailer for Duranga along with the description, "A perfect husband and a perfect father, or is he a perfect liar?". Sammit and Ira's perfect life is shattered by a dark past and a string of murders."

Producer Sarah Jang of Studio Dragon, who developed and produced the series said, “The remake of a Korean drama for the first time in India, which has different sentiment and content trend, is a remarkable achievement. I hope 'Flower of Evil', which was well-recognized for its unique combination of romance, thriller and immersive storyline, will gain popularity in India as well.”

Duranga is a first for India, as Korean dramas had previously been recreated in China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, the US, and the Philippines.
