The US reality TV star is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 4 kids. Reportedly, Kanye’s mental health issues wouldn’t impact her decision.

According to a source quoted by TMZ, Kim “totally trusts Kanye with their kids”. Speaking of the rap superstar’s proximity with his children, the source said, “He's rarely alone with them. In good times and bad, there are almost always caretakers or family members around the children.”

“Kanye's generally not around the kids when he's having a bipolar episode,” the source revealed.

Kim on Kanye West's mental health

In 2020, Kim publicly addressed husband Kanye West's mental health issues. In an Instagram story, she declared that “Kanye has bipolar disorder”.

“I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” she wrote.

On Friday, TMZ reported that it has obtained court documents confirming the divorce. The 40-year-old reality TV star has four children with West and the couple will be co-parenting. American media reports the split is going to be friendly.

The couple reportedly split up due to “irreconcilable differences”. A source was reported saying, “It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months. They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.”

Previously, reports suggested that multiple sources have confirmed that a “divorce is imminent,” and that Kardashian has hired noted divorce attorney Laura Wasser to represent her. However, the couple is yet to make any official statement.

Kim Kardashian-Kanye West went public with their relationship in April 2012 and married in May 2014, share four children together, North West, 7, Saint West, 5, Chicago West, 3, and Psalm West, 20 months.
