In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Lok Sabha elections with the majority and the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India. Many gave slammed Ranaut for her pro-government stance and for degrading the sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters.

The Queen and Tanu Weds Manu actor, who is also four times National Award winner on November 13 took to her Instagram handle with a series of stories, defending her comments. She shared alleged citations of leaders like Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Aurobindo Ghosh while in others she wrote that she will give back her award if proven wrong. She also said that if someone proves to her that she "disrespected" martyrs and freedom fighters then she will return the award.

Defending her 'real freedom' comment she said, "I specifically said physical freedom we may had but consciousness and conscience of India was set free in 2014... a dead civilization came aline and fluttered its wing and now roaring and soaring high."

I am not the only one

After posting multiple stories of her celebrating the wrap of her upcoming film Tejas, in a story, she added the picture of a page with Bal Gangadhar Tilak's quote, "INC should distinguished between begging and claiming the rights." To which, Kangana added, "Just to set the records straight....I am not the only one to call congress beggar."

The actor went on to write, "Everything is very clearly mentioned in the same interview 1857 first collective fight for freedom... along with sacrifice of greats like Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmi Bai and Veer Savarkar ji. 1857 I know but which war took place in 1947 I am not aware, if someone can bring to my notice I will give back my Padma Shri and apologise also... please help me with this."

The actor also spoke about her work in the film Manikarnika as Rani Laxmi Bai and how she had researched about "the first fight of freedom 1857." She wrote that right-wing rose at the time but died with sudden death. "Why Gandhi let Bhagat Singh die... why Neta Bose was killed and never got Gandhi Ji's support? why line of partition was drawn by a white man...?" she asked.

She then continued on defending her comments by saying that INA could have won freedom with a "small fight" and Subhash Chandra Bose would have become the first Prime Minister. "Why freedom was placed in a begging bowl of congress when right-wing was prepared to fight and take it...can someone please help me understand?" she asked, again.
