Kajal Aggarwal Announces Her Next Hindi Film 'Uma', Shooting To Start In 2021

Kajal Aggarwal Uma: Post wrapping up the shooting of Chiranjeevi-starrer Acharya movie, Tollywood actor Kajal Aggarwal has recently signed another interesting female-oriented project Uma.

Kajal Aggarwal, who tied the knot with businessman Gautam Kitchlu last year, has been roped in for the film which will be directed by debutante Tathagata Singha. "Looking forward to commencing Uma’s journey," she wrote on social media sharing the news with her fans. Bollywood's trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the news through his Twitter page.

Kajal Aggarwal Uma: She will start shooting for the film in the second half of 2021.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the film Uma will be a slice-of-life family drama and has filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh on board as creative producer. The upcoming Hindi language film is produced by Avishek Ghosh (AVMA Media) and Mantraraj Paliwal (Miraj Group). The makers further described that Uma will revolve around the life of the titular character, a stranger, (played by Kajal Aggarwal) who would join the multifaced members of the family over the course of a wedding.

The official synopsis of the movie says the backdrop is set in an aristocratic household where the entire family assembles, the drama unfolds with the arrival of a stranger Uma. “I’m always keen to give a green signal to scripts that are fun, entertaining yet challenging for me as an actor. I’m excited to share Uma with all of you," Aggarwal, known for starring in blockbuster films Singham, said she is excited to play the intriguing character on screen. The makers will soon announce the rest of the cast.

Aggarwal was last seen in Disney+ Hotstar series Live Telecast. Speaking of the film, the 35-year-old actor told Cinema Express, “I am very happy to be collaborating with AVMA Media, Avishek and director Tathagata, on an extremely interesting film.” She will also be seen in the Tamil film Hey Sinamika with Dulquer Salmaan and Aditi Rao Hydari. She also has a horror-comedy, Ghosty, lined up this year. She will also be seen in Indian 2 along with Kamal Haasan, Rakul Preet Singh and Siddharth. The shooting of the film has been on halt since February 2020.
