Impact of COVID-19 on mental health

A lot of talk has been going on about the state of mental health during the lockdown. It is evident that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected our mental health. According to a study published by Lancet, prolonged lockdowns imposed by the government led to a lot of psychological stress in adolescents. The situation didn't improve when the lockdown was gradually lifted as schools and colleges still remained closed. Parents weren't able to control the internet access of their children as education had to be imparted in the online mode.

Another paper revealed that there was a mental healthΒ crisis in 2020 in India. The situation in India is complicated as there is only one psychiatrist for every 100,000 people. Over 30 million people face mental health issues, but only a fraction of them seek help.
