Janhit Mein Jaari, starring Nushrratt Bharuccha, premiered in theatres today. The story follows a young activist who takes on a difficult profession, selling condoms in a small village in India’s Madhya Pradesh state. The film chronicles her struggles in the face of social taboos, as well as how she overcame opposition from her family and the entire town. Nushrratt Bharuccha portrays a Chanderi woman, Neeti, who suffers from extreme unemployment and is threatened with marriage by her parents. She finds work at a condom-manufacturing company as a solution to both of her concerns. She not only succeeds in her profession, but she also meets a loving and supportive husband. Her conservative in-laws, on the other hand, might not be pleased to learn of her profession.
