How Bollywood Is Celebrating The International Day Of Yoga 2021

From Shilpa Shetty and Alia Bhatt to Kangana Ranaut and Madhuri Dixit, here's how Bollywood stars marked the 2021 International Day of Yoga.

International Day Of Yoga 2021: Every year on June 21, the whole world celebrates the practice of yoga. The International Day of Yoga is observed since 2015. In India, which is the birthplace of yoga, several celebrities- from actors to sportspersons take to social media to mark the day and to encourage their followers and fans to incorporate this practice in their day to day life for better health.

This year, on June 20, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju announced the launch of twenty-five Fit India Yoga Centres. “Yoga, India’s gift to the world and a part of our ancient heritage, takes on even more relevance in the present times,” Rijiju said. He also said that people will find more reasons to practice yoga with the launch of these new centers.

Indian women actors have time and again endorsed yoga for its health benefits and today is no different. On International Yoga Day 2021, let’s take a look at how Bollywood actors are celebrating it:

Shilpa Shetty

Well known for her regular yoga practices, Shilpa Shetty is doing something new for this year’s International Day of Yoga. The actor has often shared the benefits of practicing yoga over the years. This year, however, she is taking a new step by doing a Live Yoga Session.

“Humankind has been made to realise the importance of ‘breathing’ right,” the actor wrote on Instagram. Shetty will be joining forces with Breathe For India and Pranayama and teach people about yoga.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut also took to Instagram to share personal stories of how her family members have benefitted from practicing yoga. Ranaut stated that over the years, she has convinced her whole family to take up yoga. Her parents along with her brother and sister featured on her Instagram feed celebrating World Yoga Day.

Ranaut also revealed that her family was not initially into yoga. “Some resisted, some took time,” the actor wrote in her Instagram caption. However, over the years, they have realised the physical and mental health benefits of the practice and followed Ranaut in practicing it.

“Every morning I call them and ask only one question, Yoga kiya!!” Ranaut revealed, further claiming that her mother managed to get rid of was diagnosed with diabetes ,thyroid and high level of cholesterol(600) due to which her doctore had advised an open heart surgery.

Malaika Aurora

Like Shilpa Shetty, yoga enthusiast Malaika Arora will also be conducting a session in honour of International Day of Yoga 2021. “Tomorrow, on account of international day of yoga, I plan to start my day with yoga and also, go to sleep after doing some yoga,” the actor wrote on Instagram.

Rakul Preet

Rakul Preet shared her daily routine to kickstart the day. On Instagram, the actor shared that she follows a yogic kriya called Kunjar Kriya every morning. “Feeling super clean, light, happy and energetic,” Preet wrote. The actor also thanked her instructors for bringing yoga into her life.

Alia Bhatt

Actor Alia Bhatt shared a video on Instagram to mark the International Day of Yoga 2021, in which she could be seen performing various asanas while her pet cat watches.

Madhuri Dixit

Taking to Instagram, Madhuri Dixit wrote, "Today celebrating the #InternationalYogaDay join me for the last asana in the series of #DailyYogaWithMe - #Vrikshasana. It's a great pose to strengthen your legs & lower body muscles and also improve your neuromuscular coordination. I hope you enjoyed this special series of #Yoga with me.
