Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma is an Indian sitcom that is reported to be the longest-running sitcom in India. According to a report, the show has wrapped up shooting for now after having banked enough episodes till May 3.

As the main intention of the show strives to provide relief to the citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting has been wrapped up for now due to the Maharashtra lockdown, making the show dependent on the re-shot episodes. However, the producer Asit Kumarr Modi is all set to move the shooting outdoors whenever needed.

Modi said, "We have kept the option of moving outdoors, however, our highest priority is everyone’s safety"

"In these challenging times, we wish to reiterate what Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has taught us through all these years — spread laughter and positivity even in times of adversity."

He further added that the show is including real-life situations in the storyline so that the audience also follows all protocols and stays safe.

During a conversation, Modi shared that he wants to bring Disha Vakani, who plays the role of Daya back in the show. Vakani who took a maternity leave back in 2017, has immense popularity and a fan base in the show. As the urge of people who want to see her back rises, Dayaben will be played by Vakani herself, according to reports. The production has been in constant touch with her regarding the same.

"As much as the audience, even I want Disha to return as Daya, and I am hopeful she will. All said and done, I am thankful that the audience has been giving us equal love even in her absence, which is quite a boost," Modi added.

While some sources claim that Vakani's in-laws want her to focus on her career and discontinue the show, others believe that she has asked for a mammoth hike.

When asked if the quality of the show has degraded in recent times or not, he replied that people are finding it difficult to find the show funny because they are under stress. He assures that if the same episodes are shown to the same audience after the situation normalises,  they "would have a hearty laugh".

"The team has been as passionate as it was from day one and leaves no stones unturned to put out an entertaining episode. But we are always open to criticism and if people would still feel that we are lacking, we will work hard. I am quite active on social media and also read each feedback and suggestions."
