The Paramount Sci-Fi series Halo is all set to premiere on March 24 on OTT platforms. The show which has been renewed for a second season by Paramount was initially scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2021 but was delayed due to set back in production because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Backed by Developer 343 and filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, the series is based on Microsoft’s iconic video game of the same name. It is a science-fiction epic that involves multiple warring groups and wide-ranging alien species. The live-action adaptation of the video game will have nine-episode series with episodes dropping weekly. The show is set in the 26th Century and follows the story of Master Chief, an elite Spartan soldier who is leading the charge in the human race’s ongoing war with a ruthless alien race—the Covenant.

Actor Shabana Azmi will be essaying the role of Admiral Margaret Parangosky, the head of the Office of Naval Intelligence in the series.

Shabana Azmi's Nephew Impressed With Her Casting

In an interview, the actor opened up about how she was unaware of the popularity of Halo Universe. She said that her 15-year-old nephew Viraj, who is a fan of the game, has now begun to look up to her. "And for me, the ultimate thing was that my nephew Viraj, who had never given me time of day before that, ever, suddenly looked up at me with these bright eyes and said my bua (aunt) is really worth something," she was quoted saying in the interview.

The actor has a hilarious take on her casting in the series, she dubs it as ‘colour-blind casting’ as she is not playing a woman of South Asian descent because of who she is in real life.

Halo Series Cast

Azmi will be appearing alongside Pablo Schreiber, Natasha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Bokeem Woodbine, Jen Taylor, Olive Gray, Kate Kennedy, Jen Taylor and others. Schreiber will be essaying the character of Master Chief in the live-action adaptation.

McElhone was originally cast as both Cortana and Dr Catherine Halsey. With Jen Taylor essaying Cortana, Natasha will only essay Dr Halsey who is the creator of Spartan supersoldiers. Additionally, Woodbine will portray Soren-006, a morally complex privateer at the fringes of human civilization.

Actor Bentley Kalu will play Spartan Vannak-134, a supersoldier, British actor Culzac will be seen as Spartan Riz-028 and Kate Kennedy will star as Spartan Kai-125. Yerin Ha will be essaying a new character Kwan Ha, a 16-year-old from Outer Colonies.
