‘Hacks’ Season 2 Cast: Margret Cho, Laurie Metcalf, Two Others Will Join The Show

Hacks season 2 is all set to premiere soon and bring much-needed relief to the fans of the series. The critically-acclaimed comedy show was renewed by HBO Max in 2021. They announced in June 2021 that the show will be renewed in a press release. Starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder as Deborah Vance and Ava, respectively, the show will reportedly pick up the plot from the end of season 1.

The first season ended with Vance and her entitled and young writer Ana travelling across the country following Vance’s workshop on the new personal stand-up act.

According to the show’s synopsis, Hacks is about Vance, a legendary Las Vegas stand-up comic with a need to maintain her relevance and Ava, a writer, who is unable to find job opportunities after she was fired by her previous employer over an insensitive tweet. The two partner up and the show is about their transverses through the world of comedy.

Reportedly, the show makers had decided on developing the character arcs of existing characters further; meanwhile, four new actors have joined the cast of the show co-created by Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky and Paul W Downs.

Hacks Season 2 Cast

The Hacks Season 2 cast will include Carl Clemons-Hopkins and Jane Adams from the first season alongside Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Paul W Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo and Angela E Gibbs amongst others.

The cast will see four additional characters, Laurie Metcalf, Ming-Na Wen, Martha Kelly and Margret Cho making recurring guest appearances. Reportedly, details about their characters have not been shared yet, it is being speculated that Vance and Ava will be meeting their characters while on the road trip. Even Susie Essman and Devon Sawa will be making appearances in the show.

The show’s season 2 was shot through the pandemic; Jean Smart speaking about the filming experience had said that it was not the only new experience the cast had; Smart said that the co-creator Aniello went into labour a week earlier than shooting began. “She was directing the episode. They were sending her a live feed from the set and she was quite literally directing us between contractions,” said Smart.
