Gul Panag Wears Ripped Jeans In Response To Uttarakhand CM’s Remark

Gul Panag wears ripped jeans: Gul Panag posted a picture on social media in retaliation to Uttrakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s remarks against women wearing ripped jeans.

Without targetting Rawat directly, Panag tweeted, “* Takes out ripped jeans.**” along with a picture of herself in a pair of ripped jeans teamed up with a bright yellow Tshirt.

Panag later revealed that the pair of jeans she was wearing in the photograph was 11 years old and thus were naturally worn out. “These are 11 years old. Thus worn out. Not bought ripped,” she replied to a comment under her tweet.

If women are seen wearing ripped jeans it paves the way for societal breakdown and is a result of the “bad example” parents set for children- this is what Uttrakhand CM said recently, causing a social media furore. Read all about ripped jeans remarks here

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda too criticised Rawat for his remarks and said on Instagram Stories, “Change your mentality before changing our clothes because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like this send to society.”

In the next story, she posted a picture of herself wearing ripped jeans and wrote “I’ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I’ll wear them proudly.”

Chhapaak writer Atika Chohan too took to Instagram to post a series of selfies in ripped jeans.

Rawat’s comment led women to start #RippedJeansTwitter challenge, in which people are posting pictures wearing distressed denims. Check out some of the tweets:
