Vicky Kaushal To Tap Into His Fun Side For Govinda Mera Naam, Karan Johar Announces

Actor Vicky Kaushal is all set to make his debut with filmmaker Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. In a video,  the duo announced the direct-to-OTT release of their first project together, Govinda Naam Mera. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani.

Earlier today, Govinda Naam Mera’s cast and crew took to their social media pages to share poster pictures of the film. Seen in a flamboyant avatar Kaushal is posing with Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani respectively.

“Hero, his wife and his girlfriend what could go wrong, right? A LOT it seems. Get ready for some Murder, mystery and madness,” wrote Karan Johar while sharing Kaushal’s photo from the poster. While Pednekar will play the character of Gauri, Govinda’s wife, Advani will be seen playing Govinda’s girlfriend, Such.

The film will release on December 16 on Disney+Hotstar.

The duo is featured in a fun video where Karan is seen pitching the film’s script to Vicky. The actor seems confused and dicey about taking up the film as its protagonist’s life seems to be a mess.

The video begins with Karan calling Vicky a ‘firecracker entertainer.’ But he immediately takes a dig at the actor for always portraying intense characters. Vicky tries to defend himself by saying there is a range in the roles he has played until now. But Karan is convinced that Vicky should try doing something ‘masaledaar‘. He tells the actor, “Masaale mein bhi range hai, I want to see #FunVicky.”

Govinda Mera Naam OTT Release

Written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, the upcoming comedy crime thriller tells the tale of an underdog and his family's madness. Sharing the fun promo on Instagram, the makers announced that Govinda Mera Naam will release on Disney+Hotstar.

Govinda Naam Mera stars Bhumi Pednekar as Vicky’s wife and Kiara Advani as his girlfriend. The character posters of all three lead actors were shared last year. The makers had earlier planned to release the film in the theatres on June 10, 2022. They are yet to announce the new release date.

Expressing excitement over Govinda Naam Mera, director Shashank Khaitan said, "Working on this new genre of comedy was fascinating and with a talented star cast, only made it easy. Govinda Naam Mera is a complete family entertainer which will keep the viewers guessing until the end. I am really delighted that we are releasing this exciting new film for the viewers of Disney+ Hotstar."
