Harrison later apologised for “speaking in a manner that perpetuates racism” and announced that he would be stepping aside from his presenting role for a period of time. Lindsay stated that she felt he had made the correct decision.
Lindsay, the franchise’s first black Bachelorette ended up deleting her Instagram after being harassed by fans that believed she was responsible for Harrison’s exit. Lindsay’s podcast co-host Van Lathan shared the news when he stated that the reality star has “disabled her Instagram earlier today.” Lathan clarified that “She did it because that’s how much hate she’s getting from Bachelor fans who are spamming her with all kinds of rude, hateful things to say.”
Lathan added that “Rachel is not responsible for Chris Harrison, a 49-year-old man who can’t read the room in these present 2021 times.” He stated that it isn’t Lindsay’s job to make excuses for other people or provide cover for anyone. In Lathan’s Instagram post, the caption asked “Is anyone from the entire “Bachelor Nation” going to stand up and condemn this harassment of a Black woman?”
