Derry Girls is a sitcom set in Derry, Nothern Ireland, in the 1990s during the final years of the Northern Island conflict is a comedy that will have you in stitches. Starring Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, and Dylan Llewellyn as five teenagers attending a girls’ Catholic school.

This feel-good show perfectly displays how each teenage drama seems like the most important thing in the world, even during times of violence. The show received critical acclaim and it was praised for having slight political undertones while maintaining lighthearted humour. A Derry Girls fan and Northern Ireland student Reiltin Doherty wrote her dissertation on Derry Girls.

Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek is a sitcom created by and starring Dan Levy and Eugene Levy. The series follows the Rose family after they lose all of their wealth after their business is embezzled. Schitt’s Creek also stars Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy, and Emily Hampshire. The previously rich family has to adjust to their new residence, a rundown motel in a small town named Schitt’s Creek.

The distant family is forced to spend time with each other and the townsfolk much to their displeasure. Over time the family strengthens their bond with each other and builds solid relationships with the members of the town.

This feel-good show is critically acclaimed and is the first comedy or drama series to win all seven major comedy awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Schitt’s Creek is available for streaming on Netflix until October 3, after which it will be exclusive to Hulu.

Workin’ Moms is a sitcom that follows the lives of a group of mothers in the same parenting group. The group consists of fun dynamics ranging from best friends to arch-nemeses.

The series stars Catherine Reitman, Dani Kind, Juno Rinaldi, Jessalyn Wanlim, Enuka Okuma, and Sarah McVie as the women in the parenting group. From work mishaps, to dealing with postpartum depression this feel-good show covers a plethora of experiences in a respectful and entertaining manner.

Mythic Quest, also known as Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is a comedy series that follows the staff of a fictional video same studio. The show stars Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and David Hornsby. Mythic Quest is a show filled with flawed and selfish characters that are doing the best they can. Since the comedy has only a few heartfelt and sincere scenes, it feels more heart wrenching or wholesome when those scenes take place.

Since the show is focused on a fictional video game studio, it’s a blast to watch for anyone interested in video games. Actor Ashly Burch is also a voice actor that has voiced characters in games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, Valorant, The Last of Us Part II, and Life is Strange. If you’re not a fan of video games, it’s still hilarious to see the characters compete with each other and make mistakes.
