Farhan Akhtar Says He Would Have Scraped Dil Chahta Hai If This Actor Had Not Said Yes
Akhtar also marked the 20 years of the film by the announcement of his next project Jee Le Zaraa starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
On the 20th anniversary of the iconic Bollywood film Dil Chahta Hai, director Farhan Akhter took to his Twitter to thank all of the actors in the film and members of the team all over again. In one of the posts, Akhter mentioned that he wouldn't have ever done the film had Dimple Kapadia not accepted her role in the film.

Akhtar also marked the 20 years of the film by the announcement of his next project Jee Le Zaraa starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. Akhter tweeted individual notes for Akshay Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta, Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Kulkarni.

His next tweet was dedicated to Preity Zinta who played the role of Aamir Khan's love interest Shalini and is still remembered by Dil Chahta Hai fans as the bubbly yet serious woman. Akhter added that Zinta said a yes to his debut directorial film way before any other cast member did.
Apart from the amazing storyline of the movie, Dil Chahta Hai also holds the credit of giving Bollywood a number of groovy tracks including the title song Dil Chahta Hai, Jane Kyun Log Pyaar Karte Hain, Koi Kahein Kehta Rahe and Woh Ladki Hai Kahan among others.
Akhter dedicated his next tweet to Sonali Kulkarni with the caption, "The question ‘woh ladki hai kahan’ could not have found a better answer than you @sonalikulkarni."
In his next tweet, Akhter revealed that he would probably have scrapped the making of the film had Kapadia said no to her role as Tara. He added that the character Tara was written for her and Akhter thanks his stars that she said a yes.
