Emily Watson To Star In Psychological Drama God’s Creatures

Emily Watson will be seen back-to-back on the HBO limited series starting with the Emmy-winning Chernobyl, which earned her a SAG nomination, and The Third Day.

Emily Watson is soon going to be seen in the psychological drama God's Creatures along with the Normal People star Paul Mescal.

Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer will mark their directional debut as a duo. Davis will also be editing the project. Apart from the Academy Awards nominee Emily Watson, God's creatures also star Aisling Franciosi, Declan Conlon, Marion O’Dwyer and Toni O’Rourke. Shane Crowley has given the screenplay while the story is jointly written by Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly & Shane Crowley.

The movie is set in the context of a rain-swept Irish fishing village. It is based on the story of a mother who lies to protect her son. This choice of the mother has a devastating impact on her community, her family and herself.

Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly will be producing the film under the banner of Sixty-Six Pictures. She had made two award-winning and critically acclaimed films before this. The two films being, Ammonite and Lady Macbeth. Sixty-Six Pictures is also supported by Screen Ireland, BBC Film and A24 for the development of the project God's Creatures.

While Paul Mescal is representated by Curtis Brown Group and CAA.

Davis and Holmer’s first directing collaboration was in The Fits which premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival and screened at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. In 2017, The Fits nominated for multiple awards including Best First Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards and Gotham Awards and won the Critics Award at the Deauville Film Festival. They are repped by Management 360.
