Dobaaraa ">trailer opens with Pannu and her family living next to a house where a young boy was killed during a thunderstorm, 26 years ago. As the storm hits the city again, Pannu’s character manages to communicate with the same young boy through an old television placed in her own house. When she wakes up in the morning, she finds herself in a new present. In a bid to change the past, she finds her present change as well. The trailer sees Pannu easily shifting gears and portraying two different personas.

As per sources, Pannu had reached out to Kashyap to find a director for Dobaaraa. However, he decided to helm the film after reading the script.

"I went through it and I was three drinks down. I was waiting at the airport for my flight and I said, 'I'll do it'," he Kashyap said during the film's screening in London.

"I was lucky enough that he was drunk or whatever," Pannu quipped.

Gulati, Pannu's co-star from Thappad, said working with Kashyap on Dobaaraa was a dream come true. "He has been a mentor to me since many years. I'm a sci-fi geek, I like watching films on time travel, parallel universes. I've never done something like this before."

The film marks Kashyap and Pannu's third collaboration after 2018 hit Manmarziyaan and biographical drama Saand Ki Aankh (2019), on which he served as producer. It also reunites her with Thappad co-star Gulati. The film is jointly produced by Ektaa Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new division under Balaji Telefilms, and Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose's banner Athena.
