Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s latest Dobaaraa starring actor Taapsee Pannu has finally gotten a release date. In addition to Pannu, the film also stars actor Pavail Gulati who was seen along with the actor [Taapsee] in Thappad. Ever since the film was announced, Taapsee’s fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on the same.
The actor was actively posting videos on her Instagram stories from the sets of the film which featured Kashyap as well. One of the videos featured Taapsee and Anurag where they were discussing the former’s performance. The filmmaker noted that Pannu deserved a medal for her “great performance”.
Dobaaraa Release Date
Dobaaraa marks the third venture of Kashyap and Pannu together, the first being the 2018 film Manmarziyaan and the biographical film Saand Ki Aankh. The film is being touted to be a “one of a kind” thriller. The film is all set to release on August 19, 2022.
Before its theatrical release, the film will be screened at the London Indian Film Festival. The organisers shared the update on their Instagram page as well. They wrote, “The highly anticipated DOBAARAA, directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring award-winning actress Taapsee is being premiered at the #LIFF2022 and is a testament of its new-age, cutting edge narrative being wholly loved and applauded all over the world.”
“Dobaaraa is produced by Shobha Kapoor & Ektaa R Kapoor (Cult Movies, under Balaji Telefilms) and Sunir Kheterpal & Gaurav Bose (Athena). This is the first film under Cult Movies, a wing of Balaji Films, and a new film division which is set to tell compelling, edgy & genre-bending stories,” the organisers added.

Taapsee is currently shooting for Shhabaash Mithu, a biopic based on Mithali Raj, an Indian cricketer and Test ODI captain of India women’s national cricket team. The actor has also been sharing photos on Instagram, giving an insight into her preparation for the film.
Following a brief modelling career, Pannu gained prominence in Hindi cinema as she made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film, Jhummandi Naadam and the 2011 Tamil film, Aadukalam. She debuted with David Dhawan’s comedy film and went on to become a commercially successful actor after films The Ghazi Attack and Mulk. Her performances in the film were critically appreciated as well.
Taapsee Pannu has also won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
