The makers of the upcoming action movie took to their official Twitter accounts to share the first look of Maaran starring Dhanush in the lead role. The poster and title of the Karthick Naren film were revealed on July 29, taking the cue of the actor's birthday.
The official poster shows Dhanush smashing the face of another man while holding a pen in another, suggesting the action backdrop of the film. Naren who will direct Dhanush for the first time, wrote in a tweet that the character's (Dhanush's) courage is his weapon.
According to a report by NDTV added that Dhanush will play the role of an investigating journalist in the south Indian movie.
Naren wrote in his tweet, "His courage is his weapon Proudly presenting the first look of #Maaran … Happy birthday @dhanushkraja sir"
The director wished Dhanush separately in another tweet in which he wrote, "Every day with you on set is a new learning experience for me."
Naren added the tweet with a behind the scene photo from the sets of Maaran.
He added that he will owe it to Dhanush if he becomes a better filmmaker. The happy birthday tweet ended with wishes for good things in the Raanjhana actor's life.
Malavaka Mohanlal In Maaran
Dhanush will co-star with actor Malavika Mohanlal in the Sathya Jyothi produced film. The release of the same is reportedly expected to be later this year or next year.
Dhanush was last seen in OTT release Jagame Thandhiram and is awaiting his upcoming release Russo Brothers' The Gray Man. He is also set to commence his work on than upcoming trilingual project with notable filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. The film which also stars actor Sai Pallavi is set to start its production in August.
Mohanlal was last seen in Master (Thalapathy 64) along with Vijay.
