The 31-year-old actor recently took to Instagram to share a few pictures and videos of her posing with uprooted trees and dancing in the streets of the city as it braved heavy rains and strong winds. While Singh saw this as an initiative to motivate people to take the cyclone in their stride, the responses to her post prove that it didn't go down well with social media users. Many people found her pictures insensitive, considering the loss or life and property that cyclone Tauktae caused.

Singh wrote in the caption of her Instagram post, “You can’t calm the storm, so stop trying. What you can do is calm yourself, embrace the nature and its gloomy moods because the storm will pass." The television actor also added that the uprooted tree that she was posing with fell right outside her house but nobody got hurt from it. She ended the caption with "#cyclonetauktae #staysafe #stayhome #fullmadness". The pictures and video that she uploaded were taken by her husband Rohit Goyal.

Netizens have expressed their anger towards Deepika Singh’s tone-deafness during the cyclone crisis. They called the actor out for her insensitive behaviour towards the people who are suffering heavily. Many Instagram users condemned her for conducting a photoshoot while the city struggled due to the heavy rain and highlighted her privilege during a time like this.

One user on Instagram wrote, “The cyclone has caused a lot of destruction and all she can think of is having fun”. Another user also emphasised that she can dance around and enjoy herself while people are dying only because her house has not been damaged.

in 2017, Singh opened up about body-shaming comments that she received on social media after giving birth. Singh later said that these comments motivate her more. “ Whenever I felt lazy these nasty comments helped me to hit the gym. Ultimately, I proved them wrong” she said. Read more on that here.
