DDLJ Broadway Stage Musical: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, commonly abbreviated as DDLJ, is being adapted as a Broadway stage musical titled “Come Fall In Love – The DDLJ Musical.” The announcement was made on Saturday by Aditya Chopra. He said that he will make his debut as a director with the musical version of the classic romantic movie.
"I’m a hardcore cinema guy, I have never done theatre in my life and here I am trying to pull off the craziest ambition of my life," he said. The musical will feature book and lyrics by Laurence Olivier Award-winner Nell Benjamin of Legally Blonde and Mean Girls fame. Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani have been roped in as composers while Tony and Emmy winner Rob Ashford will choreograph with associate choreographer Shruti Merchant.

The world premiere will take place at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego September 2022, as per a report.
The filmmaker said that he considers Come…Fall In Love. The DDLJ - Musical to be the most ambitious project of his life. "I’m reuniting two long lost lovers, Broadway Musical and Indian Films," he added.
In his note, Chopra recalled his earliest memory of attending a Broadway show back in 1985 when his filmmaker father Yash Chopra took him and his brother Uday Chopra to their "first musical theatre experience".
He also mentioned that his desire was to make Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge with Hollywood star Tom Cruise. Eventually, he roped in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as the star cast.
He now wants to direct DDLJ as an English language Broadway Musical for a worldwide audience.
