FIR Against Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh has been in news for the past few days because of a nude photoshoot that he did recently. While some trolled him for stripping to bare essentials, his friends from the industry have come out in Singh's support, praising him for the move. However, Singh could now be facing legal action for the same now. An NGO has filed a police complaint against the actor for "hurting sentiments of women".

In a photoshoot he did for Paper Magazine, Ranveer Singh appeared to be entirely naked in some of the images. These photographs received conflicting responses from internet users after going viral. Many even asked if a woman would have been celebrated in a similar fashion, had she posed for such a shoot?

Complaint Against Ranveer Singh, FIR not registered yet

An NGO by the name of Shyam Mangaram foundation filed a complaint with Chembur Police Station under section 67A of the Information Technology Act and sections 292, 293, 354, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code against Singh.

The complaint read, “Ranveer Singh’s pictures were clicked in such manner that any male or female will feel ashamed about it.”

The complainant claimed the actor's images had offended women's feelings and disrespected their modesty, urging the police to file an FIR in the case.

"We received an application from a person associated with an NGO on Monday. No FIR is registered so far. We are enquiring," the official stated.

The complaint said that actors are known as "Nayak" in India and have a sizable fan base, adding that some people even revere them as gods. According to the NGO, actors cannot perform acts that hurt people's feelings. It added, “We always support that there should be freedom of speech and expression that doesn’t mean that you should roam nude in the society.”

The photoshoot in question was Singh's tribute to 70s pop culture icon Burt Reynolds, who had done a similar photoshoot. Singh was last seen in the film Jayeshbahi Jordaar, which wasn't received well either by critics or viewers. His upcoming films include Rohit Shetty's Cirkus and Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
