The much-awaited Malayalam thriller Cold Case starring Prithviraj Sukumaran has got a premiere date. Sukumaran’s first film to get a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video is being touted as an out-and-out crime thriller.
In Tanu Balak directorial, the actor will essay the role of the protagonist Sathyajith IPS. The latter took to his official social media handles to announce the release date.
"A new case, a new mystery, and your cop is back on duty! Watch #ColdCaseOnPrime June 30, Amazon Prime Video," he wrote in the recent post.
Reportedly, the thriller Cold Case revolves around a murder took place in the capital city of Kerala, Trivandrum. Prithviraj Sukumaran's character who is assigned the case leads the murder investigation.
Cold Case is jointly bankrolled by Anto Joseph, Jomon T John, Shameer Muhammed as joint producers. Besides Prithviraj, the cast includes Aditi Balan, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Anil Nedumangad, Suchitra Pillai, Athmeeya Rajan, Gibin Gopinath, and Pooja Mohanraj.
The film went on the floors in November 2020 with the team following all the COVID-19 safety protocols. The filming continued for around a month without a break, however, they had to stop it midway later.
On the other hand, Prithviraj will feature in the debut film of Manu Warrier in Malayalam titled Kuruthi. The political thriller also stars Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Srindaa in pivotal roles. The film was anticipated to open in cinemas in May this year, however, owing to the pandemic, the release date was postponed without a new date.
