Chrissy Teigen quit Twitter: The model, television personality, and author Chrissy Teigen quit Twitter and stated that negativity is the reason she decided to quit the platform.

In the final thread before Chrissy Teigen quit Twitter, she thanked her followers and stated that they “have been my world” for the past decade. She added that the negativity, bullying, and harassment was weighing on her. Teigen stated that the negativity had left her “deeply bruised”.

“It’s not the platform. It’s not the “bullying”. And it’s not the trolls… It’s just me,” is what Teigen said on her Instagram post. She clarified that she hated feeling like she had upset or let people down, and reading that she had disappointed people every day took a toll on her. Teigen stated that “Someone can’t read that they disappointed you in some way every single day, all day without physically absorbing that energy. I can feel it in my bones.”

Teigen also stated that her quitting the platform was not Twitter’s fault. She stated that she believes they attempt to combat “relentless bullying” to the best of their ability. Teigen also added that the platform reached out and worked with her personally or her team multiple times. The reason behind Teigen quitting the platform simply lies with the fact that the negativity she faced outweighed the positivity. “The platform no longer serves me as positively as it does negatively, so with that I bid you adieu.”

Teigen explained that while she is portrayed as “the strong clap-back girl”, the reality is that she is not. In her farewell Tweet, she wrote that “My desire to be liked and fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as!”
