Renowned filmmaker Yash Chopra's wife and accomplished film producer and singer Pamela Chopra passed away at the age of 74  in Mumbai, as announced by her family in a statement today.

She had been admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital two weeks ago and was suffering from pneumonia. The family has not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of her death. A cremation ceremony was held for her in Mumbai today at 11 am. Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra are the surviving sons of the deceased. Aditya Chopra is married to the renowned actor Rani Mukerji.

Several well-known faces from the Bollywood industry, including Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, and Vicky Kaushal, expressed their condolences to Aditya Chopra at his residence shortly after the funeral.

YRF issued a statement confirming the passing away of Pamela Chopra. The statement expressed the Chopra family's grief and announced that Pamela Chopra, 74, died in the morning. The cremation ceremony was held in Mumbai at 11 am today. The family expressed their gratitude for the prayers and requested privacy during this difficult time.

Paying his tribute, lyricist Javed Akhtar called Pamela Chopra an exceptional person. He wrote, “Today Pam ji the better half of Shri Yash Chopra has passed away. She was a great lady. Intelligent, educated, warm and witty. Those who like me have worked closely with Yash ji know about her contribution in his scripts and music. She was an exceptional person."

In a tweet, Madhuri Dixit expressed her sorrow, writing, "My deepest sympathies to Adi, Rani, Uday, and the Chopra family. Pam Aunty will always be remembered as an exceptionally lovely lady with a fantastic sense of humour who loved taking care of everyone. In this trying moment, my heart goes out to you all."

Ajay Devgan wrote, “My thoughts & prayers are with Adi, Rani, Uday and all members of the Chopra family in their hour of grief. RIP respected Pam Chopra Ji. Om Shanti"

Pamela Chopra’s legacy:

Pamela Chopra worked with Yash on his films in different capacities. According to The Romantics docuseries, which was her final on-camera appearance, Pamela had an important role in Yash Chopra's movies. She wrote the screenplay for the legendary movie Kabhi Kabhie, provided fashion styling for the cast of the 1981 film Silsila, and had a decisive influence on the music of those films.

Pamela Chopra, who was married to Yash Chopra since 1970, suffered the loss of her husband who died at the age of 80 in 2012. She is well-known for her singing roles in Yash Raj Films' popular films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Noorie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Kaala Patthar. In addition to her singing career, Pamela Chopra is also recognized for her writing credits for the movie Kabhie Kabhie. She collaborated with her husband, Yash Chopra, as a co-writer for the script of the 1997 Bollywood film, Dil To Pagal Hai. Additionally, she served as a costume designer for films such as  Sawaal.
