BTS at Billboard Music Awards: South Korean boy band BTS has set their new personal record as they scored their highest number of wins at this year’s Billboard Music Awards with four awards.

On May 23 local time, the 2021 Billboard Music Awards revealed most of the winners of this year in a non-televised pre-show. In the pre-show, it was revealed that BTS has won three out of the four categories they were nominated in. This marked the group’s win in Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist, and Top Duo/Group.

The remaining winners were then announced during the award ceremony show that separately aired at 8 p.m. ET. The world-dominating boy group then went on to win the Top Selling Song award for their first hit English single, Dynamite.

BTS had already set a new personal record for the most awards they have ever received at a single Billboard Music Awards with the three awards from the pre-show. But the record was extended to a total of four trophies in total.

This year marks BTS’s first time winning the Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song award. It is their second time winning Top Duo/Group for which their first win was in 2019, and also the group’s fifth consecutive year winning Top Social Artist.

BTS also performed their ew single Butter for the very first time on television at the awards show. This second English single of BTS, whose music video was released on May 21, has broken a number of world records already. Since its release, YouTube has confirmed that the music video broke the video sharing platform's premiere record for the most viewers with 3.89 million viewers. Read more on that here.

Butter also broke the record previously held by the same group’s first English single Dynamite of having the most views in 24 hours. YouTube has confirmed that the Butter music video set a new 24-hour record on YouTube with 108.2 million views.
