With Conservatorship Row Behind Her, Britney Spears Announces Third Pregnancy

What Is Perinatal Depression
Popular singer and songwriter, Britney Spears took to social media to announce her third pregnancy. The news comes five months after her long battle over conservatorship with her father Jamie Spears, which formally ended in November 2021. Spears had claimed that she had been forcefully made to use an intrauterine device during the conservatorship, to avoid pregnancy.

It was after 13 years of living under her father’s guardianship as an adult that a Los Angeles court judge ended the conservatorship, which was put into effect in 2008. Through the conservatorship, her father had control over her finances and the personal and professional aspects of her life.

A conservatorship is a form of adult guardianship in the United States. Under this, the conservator gets the legal rights to protect the conservatives and take decisions on their behalf.

Britney Spears Pregnant

Taking to Instagram, Spears announced her pregnancy, writing, “I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back (emojis)…I thought ‘Geez…what happened to my stomach???’ My husband said ‘No, you’re food pregnant silly!!’.”

She further added that she then got a pregnancy test done which was positive, “…I am having a baby…4 days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing!!! If 2 are in there…I might just lose it.”

She also wrote that she will not be going out because of paparazzi to give them a shot that’ll fetch them a high price, “…it’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression…I have to say it is absolutely horrible…women didn’t talk about it back then…some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her.”

Spears further wrote that women could talk about such issues now and thankfully do not have to keep the pain a secret. She also talked about her coping mechanism during the pregnancy, revealing that she was planning on doing a lot more yoga and “spreading lots of joys and love!!”

She is having the baby with her partner Sam Asghari. The 40-year-old singer already has two teenage boys with former husband Kevin Federline.

Asghari too shared the news on his social media and stated, “Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take it lightly. It is the most important job I will do.”
