Bombay Begums trailer out: The trailer for upcoming Netflix series, Bombay Begums, which would mark the comeback of actor Pooja Bhatt, came out today. Bombay Begums would narrate the story of five women, who belong to different sections of the society, battling their fate and patriarchy to emerge as ‘Queens of Bombay’. 

Alongside Bhatt, as the lead, this women-centric web series features Amruta Subhash, Plabita Borthakur, Shahana Goswami, Aadhya Anand in key roles. All the leads of this Netflix series are connected by their ambition and desire for power. The trailer suggests that the lives of these women get intertwined due to an accident and a scandal.

Know about the Bombay Begums 

“Five women, five different worlds, five different perspectives. Meet the five Begums who find themselves racing and facing obstacles threatening to pull them down. Watch each unique personality fight against her roadblocks and emerge victorious! says the show’s official synopsis. It further adds that Bombay Begums tells a very relevant and unconventional story of women uplifting women through situations that will surely strike a chord with every Indian woman.”

Bombay Begums trailer promises a suave comeback for actor Pooja Bhatt, who is supported by an impressive cast of women actors.

Filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava, who has directed the show, said in a statement that the show revolves around the complex and struggling journey of working Indian women, who are ambitious for power and success but have to fight many obstacles on their way as they desperately want to reach their goals. “It’s the story of their daily hustle, the story of their dreams – sometimes buried, sometimes fulfilled,” Shrivastava said.

Bombay Begums is a story about Indian women, but I hope women from all over the world connect with the story: Alankrita Shrivastava on Bombay Begums.

Shrivastava also said that she tried to reflect the reality of urban working women in this show. “It’s the story of glass ceilings shattered, and also of the hearts broken in the process,” she added.

Alankrita Shrivastava’s previous works Lipstick Under My Burkha and Dolly Kitty Aur Vo Chamakate Sitaare too have been women-centric projects.

Written and directed by Shrivastava, produced by Endemol Shine India, Endeavor Content, and Chernin Entertainment, Bombay Begums is all set to stream on Netflix on 8 March on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
