BLACKPINK Kill This Love creates record: K-pop girl groupBLACKPINK has set another record on YouTube with their music video of Kill This Love which was released in 2019. On May 22, the music video surpassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube. This makes Kill This Love the fastest K-pop group music video to ever hit the 1.3 billion views milestone.

It took the Kill This Love music video a total of two years, one month, and seventeen days to make this new record. The previous record-holder was also the same girl group as they surpassed the 1.3 billion views mark quickly with their other worldwide hit song DDU-DU DDU-DU.

Apart from BLACKPINK’s two hit songs, the only other Korean music videos either by a group or a solo artist to ever achieve this YouTube record of 1.3 billion views the fastest are solo artist PSY’s Gangnam Style and Gentleman which were both released back in 2013.

The girl group which is under the management of YG Entertainment is not new to breaking records. BLACKPINK also previously made record for selling 1.2 million copies of their first full album The Album, making them the first-ever Korean girl group to sell over one million copies of an album.

Recently Rosé, a member of BLACKPINK, set two Guinness World Records with her debut single On The Ground. The artist also set the world records for being the first artist to reach number one on a Billboard Global chart as a solo artist and as a part of a group and for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a solo K-pop artist.
