Sharma, who is the daughter of renowned actor-director Aparna Sen.She first made an appearance on the screen as a child artist in the 1983 film Indira eventually appearing as an adult in Ek Je Aachhe Kanya. With the release of the critically acclaimed film A Death in the Gunj in 2016, she added another feather to her cap as one of the most nuanced filmmakers in the country. The actor-director has received two National Film Awards so far for her contribution to Indian cinema.

Konkona Sen Sharma is currently working on the upcoming crime-drama Netflix film Soup with co-star Manoj Bajpayee.

Talvar is based on the 2008 Noida double murder case also known as the Aarushi Talvar and Hemraj murder case which remains unsolved even till now. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film sees Sharma in the role of Nutan Tandon, a character based on Aarushi Talvar's mother, who is one of the prime suspects in the case. The film also features other powerful performers like Irrfan, Neeraj Kabi, Sohum Shah. Tabu too makes an appearance in the film in a short role.

Omkara

Based on William Shakespeare's Othello, Omkara is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and features an ensemble cast led by Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma. Konkona Sen Sharma also won the National Film Award in the Best Supporting Female Actor category for her performance as Indu, who is married to the antagonist Langda Tyagi.

Life In A Metro deals with the lives of nine people as they struggle with complications of married life, heartbreak, lust and thriving in a bustling megacity. The film is directed and written by Anurag Basu and is partly based on 1960 rom-com The Apartment. Life In A Metro includes an ensemble cast of Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Irrfan Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Kay Kay Menon, Kangana Ranaut, Sharman Joshi along with Konkona Sen Sharma.

Wake Up Sid

The 2009 coming-of-age film Wake Up Sid, directed by Ayan Mukherjee, features Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles. The film revolves around Siddharth Mehra (Kapoor) a spoiled rich kid who walks out of his home after failing an exam and Aisha (Sharma) a level-headed young woman who has just moved to Mumbai. Despite coming from different backgrounds and have an opposite outlook towards life,  they learn from each other while living together and eventually fall in love.
