The film Love in Vietnam is based on the bestseller Madonna in A Fur Coat and marks the production debut of Omung Kumar. The book narrates the story of Raif, who leads a purposeless life until he encounters a woman named Maria Puder. Initially, many critics dismissed the book as "just another love story." However, it eventually became a bestseller and is now considered one of the finest works in Turkish literature. In 2016, Maureen Freely translated the book into English, making Sabahattin Ali one of the only two Turkish authors to be featured in Penguin Classics, alongside Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar with his book The Time Regulation Institute.

The film is produced by Blue Lotus Creatives, Rahhat Kazmi Film Studios, Innovations India, and Lensglare Entertainment. The project is also supported by the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Mumbai, and Vietnam Airlines.

Avneet's role in Love in Vietnam is highly anticipated, following her successful appearances in Indian cinema, including the film Tiku Weds Sheru. The unveiling at Cannes has generated a buzz around the film, with fans eagerly awaiting more details about the plot and the characters.
