Asha Bhosle and RD Burman worked on several projects together and created some memorable and evergreen tracks. It was both their second marriage and Bhosle was six years old to him. Typically quite a controversial couple of those times. Some of the notable works of the duo are Lakdi Ki Kathi from Masoom, Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay, Duniya Mein Logon Ko from Apna Desh, Chura Liya Hai Tumne and Yamma Yamma from Shaan.

Bhosle holds a Guinness record for singing the maximum number of songs. It is said that Burman has fallen in love with the Queen of Indipop and had proposed to her quite a few times. But Bhosle wasn't sure about starting a new relationship out of the trauma from her first marriage. She took time to move on and eventually after a lot of persuasion, she agreed to marry R. D. Burman. They became one of the most talked about couples in the B-Town and their career peaked too. It was a happy marriage. But in the later half of the 80s, Burman reportedly suffered from alcoholism and it brought distance between them. Slowly Burman's health deteriorated and in 1994, he passed away due to a heart attack.

The veteran singer also has also spoken about how their love for music songs by John Coltrane, Rolling Stones, Earth Wind and Fire brought the two of them together. Talking about their relationship elder sister and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar said, "When Pancham and Asha got married, Pancham told me that Didi, we do not want any expensive gift from you. If you want to give me something then write a counseling letter for me and tell me what should I do and what not for a beautiful married life."

Music was the foundation of her marriage to RD Burman. She walked out of an unhappy marriage and found love again at a time it was unheard of.
