Anushka Sharma NH10: It was six years ago that Sharma, in her mid-20s youth, pushed the pedal to take the leap from an able actor to an able producer. NH10 marked her first production under Clean Slate Filmz, a banner she launched with her brother Karnesh. Since 2015, Sharma has gone on to produce four more films, most of which have seen thundering critical and commercial success, for the divergent stories they choose to tell.
On the sixth anniversary of her very first production, Sharma recalls how NH10 marked new milestones for her and female actors across the film industry. "NH10 was a necessary film to shake things up for women actresses. NH10 (/topic/nh10) showed how a woman can fight to survive, can stand up for herself. I'm glad I became a producer with an important film in our cinematic history."
NH10 is a film about Meera and Arjun, a young couple on holiday that finds themselves caught in a web of social evils in Haryana, from honour killing to the political-law nexus in the state. The film amassed Rs 330 million during its run and was declared a sleeper hit. It won praise from across the board for taking the complex issue of violence against women head-on.

Sharma reveals that she was a "clueless producer" in the beginning and that many around her said she should much rather focus on acting - where she was delivering superlatively - instead of production. But she says, "I'm glad I took the punt at 25 and if I have been able to change the discourse of being a female producer in town who is always looking to be disruptive, I consider myself fortunate.

She credits her brother and co-producer for fanning her thoughts when she "had a head full of dreams." She says, "We were and are a great team," and adds, "Today, I can't imagine myself without NH10, Pari, Phillauri, Bulbbul, Paatal Lok, and the exciting projects that lie ahead."
