Pavitra Rishta: Actor Shaheer Sheikh is reportedly set to play the role of Manav in Pavitra Rishta 2.0, the second version of the popular television drama.
Ankita Lokhande who played the role of Archana with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput earlier will reprise her role.
The series that ran for 1500 in 2009 had been slated for a second edition in 2020. It is now that the makers have been able to lock the script. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the makers are working on casting other actors in the drama series.
"Shaheer Sheikh has come on board Pavitra Rishta 2.0 to portray the iconic character of Manav. Ankita will be back to play Archana again after 7 long years. The other cast members will be locked soon," a source to the show told Pinkvilla.
The show narrated a love story between a car mechanic and a class eight pass-out girl. The lead actors Rajput and Lokhande became household names soon after the show premiered.
In 2011, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput quit the show to work on his Bollywood projects. He was replaced by Hiten Tejwani. The show was later cancelled in 2014.
According to reports, Ekta Kapoor decided to produce the sequel last year after Rajput's death in order to pay him a tribute. It is reported that the drama will be released on an OTT platform.
On June 14, Rajput's fans, friends and family members observed his one year death anniversary. The actor had died by suicide on the same day in 2020. Ankita Lokhande also shared social media posts remembering the actor. She old videos and pictures in which Rajput was seen dancing, riding a bike, performing puja. Lokhande in her tribute thanked Rajput for being part of her life's journey. Wile sharing the old footages of the late actor, Lokhande showed people how was the Sushant Singh Rajput.
