Rashmika Mandanna To Star Opposite Ranbir Kapoor In 'Animal'?

The upcoming film Animal is garnering a lot of attention on the internet. The under-development project’s casting has made it to headlines in recent weeks. Parineeti Chopra was supposed to be a part of Animal’s cast with Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol. However, the actor dropped out of the film and reports have surfaced about another actor replacing her. Here’s what we know so far.

The announcement for the upcoming film Animal was made in November 2021. Speculations are rife that Parineeti Chopra dropped out of the film to work on Imtiaz Ali's directorial Chamkila. Chopra's departure from the film was confirmed later.

Since March 29, rumours have hinted that actor Rashmika Mandanna will most likely replace Chopra. According to a report by a news portal quoting a source close to the development, “Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga felt that Rashmika fits the bill to the T. They wanted a fresh cast, rather than repeating the pairing of RK with another actress. The duo feels that both RK and Rashmika will set the screen on fire with their chemistry in Animal. The two share an interesting dynamic in the film.”

Film Animal Cast:

Animal is a gangster drama film that will explore the turbulent relationships between all the characters which result in the protagonist’s transformation into a “natural animal”. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as the protagonist in the film while Anil Kapoor will play his father in the film. Mandanna will be seen as Ranbir’s wife. Bobby Deol, reportedly, will have an important role in the film. The film will be directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who is popularly known for making the misogynistic Telugu film Arjun Reddy and a remake of the same film in Hindi, Kabir Singh.

Ranbir Kapoor who was last seen in the 2018 film Sanju is expecting a lot of releases in 2022. His films Shamshera and Brahmastra, are both expected to release in 2022. The actor will return to silver screens in 2023 with Luv Ranjan's yet-to-be-titled Holi rom-com flick, followed by Animal in the second half of the year. On the other hand, Mandanna is gearing up to debut in the Hindi film industry with Siddharth Malhotra-starrer Mission Majnu followed by Goodbye which also stars Amitabh Bachchan. She is also working on a project with Dharma Productions and has Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 on her list.
