Saina poster controversy: The recently-released poster of Parineeti Chopra starrer Saina was subjected to trolling, due to alleged goof-up on the part of makers. Netizens were quick to point out a"mistake" the makers had made regarding badminton serve that is apparently depicted in the shared poster. On March 4, Saina's director Amole Gupte took to Facebook and broke his silence on the controversy.
Re-sharing the film’s poster, Gupte wrote, “Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster… “looks like a tennis serve… Saina doing a Sania” etc… If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!!!” The poster in question has been created by Rahul Nanda.
He further added in his post that it was "unfortunate" that he had to explain the details to "a quick reacting, impatient world… not stopping to think before rubbishing anything!!!"
"Socho (think)!!!” he said to the trolls online. His reaction came after many Twitter users started making remarks on the shuttlecock serve shown in the poster, claiming that it looked more like a tennis serve than badminton. One Twitter user wrote, “Bollywood Creativity at its best. As always.” Another commented, “Tennis bangea Badminton.”
Meanwhile, sharing the poster on social media, badminton player Saina Nehwal wrote, "I’m so glad to share a glimpse of my upcoming movie, #Saina. Lots of love to the entire team. In cinemas on 26th March."
The Parineeti Chopra-starrer film's teaser came out on Thursday. Saina, a sports biopic on badminton player Saina Nehwal will release in theatres on March 26. Chopra revealed on social media that the final trailer is also “coming out soon.”
