Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation suit was one of the most reported celebrity cases in recent times. Since their trial at the beginning of the year, they have been in the news. Amber Heard has now been named the most-searched celebrity on Google this year, closely followed by ex-husband Johnny, according to a recent report that examined data from Google search trends in 2022, presumably as a result of their high-profile legal battle.

With an estimated 5.6 million searches per month in the US, Heard came in the first place as the most-searched celebrity in 2022. Second on the list, with 5.5 million monthly searches, was Johnny Depp.

Heard has surpassed American reality TV star Kim Kardashian, Twitter founder Elon Musk, and other celebrities to take the top spot on the list of most-searched celebrities on Google in 2022, according to CelebTattler.

According to the report, Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk, American football player Tom Brady, actor Pete Davidson, and the late Queen Elizabeth II all placed third on the list. After seven decades on the throne, Britain's longest-reigning monarch passed away in September at the age of 96. During the year, she reportedly received 4.3 million searches on Google.

A spokesperson from CelebTattler told The Post in a statement, "This year has certainly not been lacking when it comes to celebrity news stories, whether it be Elon Musk taking over Twitter or the Don’t Worry Darling behind-the-scenes drama."

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation suit:

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard appeared in a US court earlier this year for a defamation trial; the former was given $10.35 million in damages, and she received $2 million. The US lawsuit was filed in April and May, and the jury returned its verdict in June.

It was based on the claim that in a 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post, Amber had defamed Johnny by referring to herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Since then, Johnny has filed an appeal challenging Amber's $2 million defamation trial settlement, claiming a few court decisions "were erroneous."
