Anurag Kashyap’s film Amost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat is gearing up for its theatrical release. Kashyap, who has carved a niche for himself as a director with films like Black Friday, Dev D, Manmarziyaan, etc., is back with his first release of 2023.

The director is known for making movies that portray raw and vulnerable human emotions and inhibitions. Director Kashyap revealed that he got insights for the movie from his daughter to better understand the lives of Gen Xers. The film, which stars Alaya F and newcomer Karan Mehta in lead roles, is said to be a romantic drama.

We are then introduced Alaya F's character, who is a schoolgirl, and Karan Mehta's character. She challenges him to whisk her under her overprotective and regressive father’s watchful eyes and take her to DJ Mohabbat’s concert. From the look of the ">trailer, the girl’s parents are enraged that their daughter has ventured out with a guy and feel it has brought disgrace to their family.

The film explores the lack of freedom and autonomy for girls in regressive families who believe that family honour lies with the women of the household. Alaya plays the role of a girl who wants to live for herself, be happy, and explore like a normal teenager but is deprived of agency over her own life because of her strict family.

Alaya's character is a school-going teenager who befriends Mehta's character. She wants to go to the infamous DJ Mohabbat’s Almost Pyaar concert. When she goes to the concert with Mehta's character, her conservative family sees it as a slap in the face to their family's honour. The story of Almost Pyaar With Dj Mohabbat is about a girl from an orthodox family who simply wants to live her life on her own terms.

Alaya F and Karan Mehta are playing lead roles in this romantic drama. Actor Vicky Kaushal will make a cameo appearance as the titular character, DJ Mohabbat.
