Replying to the tweet, she asked the person to respect women irrespective of what they wear and learn the concept of dress policing and why it must be avoided: Divyanka Tripathi dupatta controversy

Here's all you need to know about the Divyanka Tripathi dupatta controversy:

1. The man was purportedly criticising Tripathi for not wearing proper Indian dress. She felt it was her duty to make her personal stand clear, so she replied to him saying it is her body and her soul, hence it is solely her decision what she wants to wear.

2. The Crime petrol host asked him to "kindly change" the way he and others look at women, so much so that people like him learn to respect women even if they aren't wearing a scarf. The incident took place on Tuesday.

3. She went on to defend her clothing choices and reprimanded him for his unwanted advice saying, "don't comment on what women wear. My body, my honour, my wish! Your decency, your wish)!" Read the full story here.

4. Defending Tripathi, a fan commented that Indian men should start thinking about desexualizing body parts from their mind. "Go slow but please act towards changing the thinking process," the fan wrote saying it is never about clothes or body parts, but the way people's eyes see and how their mind reads that needs to change. Another called out the "mentality" and praised the actor for showing the power to stand up for herself. "We all need to dust this mentality n ppl like that ..Hopefully r society becomes a better place after that !" one rote. A third commented, "Mindbolwing answer d it's girl choice what to wear or not no one has the rights to tell us that person is such a cheap one."

5. When a person tweeted in Hindi, "Ma'am, you questioned Ghanshyamji's character but it might be possible that he is a fan and likes to see you with a scarf", Tripathi, who is currently in Cape Town, South Africa shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, also replied in Hindi suggesting that he is a fan it's understandable but questioning women's clothing has become a thing of the past. "We can discuss acting, science, politics, history, geography on many subjects. Dupatta is a very trivial subject compared to that," she mentioned about the hypocritical nature.

7. Other Twitter users proceeded to protest against questioning women for their clothing choices and continued the argument that women are way past answering the question of "Cant she wear this dress?"

36-year-old Tripathi is famous for her most prominent successes including Banoo Main Teri Dulhann and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. She is married to her co-actor from the latter television show, Vivek Dahiya.
