Sharmaji Namkeen, Rishi Kapoor's last on-screen appearance, is all set for a release. The film's producers recently conducted a memorial screening of Sharmaji Namkeen for the late actor, which was attended by his family members as well as actor Alia Bhatt.

At the screening of Sharmaji Namkeen on Wednesday, Alia Bhatt joined her boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor, his mother, Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir's sister, Riddhima Kapoor, and other members of the Kapoor family. Riddhima Kapoor after watching Sharmaji Namkeen, her late father's final film, uploaded a still from the film accompanied by a very emotional caption.

She wrote, "It’s been almost two years since dad left us physically; but his charisma is still felt and his legend is still alive and will forever be. Today, as I watch the last film of my father, actor par excellence, a devoted son and brother, a doting husband and the most wonderful dad in the universe; I feel immensely proud of being his daughter! Paresh ji thank you for completing the movie. The family will always be indebted for your kind gesture."

Rishi Kapoor's last film is a humorous tale about a lovable 60-year-old man. Sharmaji Namkeen is a "relatable and heartwarming story of self-discovery and self-realization." It follows the life of a newly retired guy who discovers his love and passion for cooking after retirement. After joining a "riotous" women's kitty circle, he comes to this realisation.

Juhi Chawla appears in the film, having previously worked with Kapoor in films such as Bol Radha Bol and Eena Meena Deeka in the 1990s. Paresh Rawal, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Sheeba Chadha, and Isha Talwar are among the cast members.

Kapoor died in April 2020 at the age of 67. He was diagnosed with leukaemia and battled it for two years. Due to his untimely death, the filmmakers enlisted Paresh Rawal to complete the film. In the film, they both portray the same character.

Sharmaji Namkeen is set to be released on OTT on March 31.
