Alia Bhatt COVID: After Sanjay Leela Bhansali tested positive for COVID-19, Alia Bhatt has been home quarantine. The two were shooting for Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Neetu Kapoor took to Instagram and shared that Ranbir Kapoor has also tested positive.

The positive report of the director has brought the shooting of the film Gangubai Kathiawadi to a halt. Bhansali is reportedly self-quarantining. The news was first confirmed by a report by Indian Express which a source quoted, “SLB has tested positive for Covid-19, and he is under self-quarantine, Alia too has quarantined herself since SLB and Ranbir both have tested positive. Everybody who has come in contact with Sanjay have taken the test.” They added that Bhansali’s mother is fine and has tested negative.

Alia Bhatt who is playing the main lead in Bhansali’s film has home quarantined herself as a precautionary measure although it is not confirmed if she got tested for the coronavirus. No official statements have been released by the production company and the actor.

Neetu Kapoor shared on Instagram that her son Ranbir Kapoor has also tested positive. She uploaded a picture of him and wrote that he has self-quarantined and thanked everyone for their concern.”Thank you for your concern and your good wishes Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well. He is in self-quarantine at home and following all precautions,” her caption read.

The film Gangubai Kathiawadi recently came out with its first teaser in which Alia Bhatt’s character could be seen. The other cast members of the film had recently started shooting and this delay can cause the film’s release date to shifted further. Bhansali had finally started shooting the film in January 2021 after the delay caused by the pandemic last year. Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a real-life story of a woman who was forced to work as a prostitute but she eventually carves her way in the industry and becomes one of the most powerful woman in Mumbai.
