Akshay Kumar To Make Marathi Debut In 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat'

In Mahesh Manjrekar's upcoming Shivaji-based movie, Akshay Kumar will soon make his Marathi film debut. The actor would play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat.

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, and Raj Thackeray, the leader of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), were present at a mahurat shot event for the movie on Tuesday in Mumbai. The film, which Vaseem Qureshi produced, is based on the story of seven brave soldiers who dedicated their lives to achieving Shivaji Maharaj's vision of Swarajya and creating one of history's most glorious pages.

Talking about the film, Kumar said at the event," It's a role I've always wanted to play. I believe it is a very big responsibility to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen. When Raj Sir asked me to play this part, I was shocked. This role is a dream come true for me, and I feel so good to be playing it. In addition, it will be my first time working with director Mahesh Manjrekar, which will be exciting."

Mahesh Manjrekar referred to the movie as his dream project and said he spent the last seven years working on it as it required extensive research. He said, "I want people to become familiar with the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the most powerful Hindu king, through this film, which is by far the biggest and grandest Marathi production ever. In my opinion, Akshay Kumar is the ideal choice to play Shivaji Maharaj, so I consider myself extremely lucky to have him on board."

The announcement was made a few days later, after Ram Setu, Kumar's fifth movie of the year, was released. He plays an archaeologist in the movie on a rescue mission for the old landmark. Selfie with Nushrratt Bharuccha, Gorkha, OMG 2: Oh My God 2, and Soorarai Pottru's remake with Radhika Madan are among the actor's upcoming movies.
