Ajay Devgn released his look from Sanjay Leela Bhansali Gangubai Kathiawadi on his social media profile. Sharing the photo, the actor wrote, "Apni pehchaan se chaar 🌙 lagane, aa rahe hai hum! Trailer out tomorrow."

While the movie was earlier expected to release on January 6, 2022, the increase in COVID-19 infection and the third wave made the makers postpone the release. Now, the movie is scheduled to be released across the country in theatres on February 25, 2022.

Ajay Devgn In Gangubai Kathiawadi

He is seen wearing a white shirt with beige pants and a grey checkered coat typical of the post-independence era where the movie is set. However, his look is complemented by a Nehru cap and black shades and stands in front of a vintage car. The actor is shown to be surrounded by a crowd on a street with old-style buildings.

The trailer of the much-awaited biographical movie stars Alia Bhatt in the titular role of power woman Gangubai who used to run a brothel in the area of Kamathipura. As she originally belonged to the area of Kathiawad and had no other choice than to embrace being a worker in a red light area, hence the name Kathiawadi. The movie also stars Varun Kapoor, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Bhargava Pahwa, and Indira Tiwari in the supporting role.

Ajay Devgn joined the cast and crew of the movie in February 2021 when his presence was confirmed by the production team. He was seen holding a piece of paper and talking to Bhansali. The picture was captioned as -"We are happy to have @ajaydevgn join the team of Gangubai Kathiawadi"

The movie is based in the period of the 1960s and tells the story of the transformation of a woman from a brothel to a political figure. The story is adapted from S Hussain Zaidi's book "Mafia Queens of Mumbai".

The movie is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada under the banner of Bhansali Productions and Pen India Limited.
